Domaine Arnoux lachaux wines have a rich and deep hue, with aromas of poppy, raspberry, and cassis and hints of vanilla, charcoal, and tobacco. Full-bodied, with broad shoulders and a smooth palate, the violet aromas are typical of Volnay. The flavours are warm and round with good acidity and a lovely balance between tannins and fruit. Online wine auctions is an ideal wine for the casual drinker. It’s smooth and not too strong – perfect for a family dinner.

Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux is a Burgundy wine producer based in Vosne-Romanée, Côte de Nuits in the wine-growing region of Burgundy. It was founded by Henry Denis Lachaux in the mid-19th Century and is now headed by Pierre Arnoux. Domaine Arnoux was started by Pierre Arnoux in 1948 and has been passed down to his sons Jean-Francois and Olivier who are now running the estate. The vineyards used to be planted with cereals and were part of the Arnoux family’s farm.
The transition to growing grapes came gradually as the area became known for fine wines during the 19th century. The Arnoux Lachaux family represents a union between old Burgundy tradition and modern technology, producing outstanding wines in Nuits St George since 1948. Domaine Arnoux Lachaux is one of the oldest and most refined vineyards in Vosne-Romanée. The name of the Domaine Arnoux dates back to the 13th century when a Roman family settled in what is now the village of Vosne-Romanée. This is where Richard Groffier, descendent of Henri Gouges, planted his first vines in 1949.
Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux is the largest landowner in Vosne-Romanee and has a total of 7.5 hectares (18.5 acres) of vineyards. Their parcels are spread throughout Burgundy, including Vosne-Romanee, Chambolle-Musigny, Flagey Echezeaux, and Nuits St Georges. The majority of their vines were planted in the 1920s and 1930s, complementing their more modern plantings from 1989 to 1993.

Burghound, ‘A very ripe and moderately toasty nose of the essence of pear, honeysuckle and citrus notes leads to rich, full-bodied and powerful flavours that brim with dry extract before terminating in a firmly structured, even austere finish that is firm but not hard. As with most of the wines in the range, there is fine depth here though it’s pretty clear that this won’t drink well young as extended cellaring will be needed to allow more complexity to develop. I would point out that while the acidity levels are relatively low, there is excellent freshness.’
